João Gomes, an athlete from Almeirim, was crowned the big winner of the Estrela Xtreme Triathlon 2026, taking first place in the EXT Full Distance event, one of the most demanding competitions of the event. The Almeirim athlete stood out among all participants and finished at the top of the classification in a race that tested the physical and mental endurance of the competitors.
The EXT Full Distance event consisted of a 4-kilometer swim, 190 kilometers of cycling and 41 kilometers of running. Rui Matias came in second place, while Francisco Gameiro completed the podium in third position.
João Gomes' victory represents another outstanding result in national triathlon, in a competition marked by extreme demand and the challenge it represents for all athletes who take on the course. The Estrela Xtreme Triathlon has been establishing itself as a reference event for practitioners of the sport, combining different triathlon segments in a unique endurance test.
