Italian driver Kimi Antonelli, driving for Mercedes, won today the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, held at the new Madrid urban circuit, known as Madring, in the 14th round of the season. Antonelli completed the 57 laps of the circuit and finished with a 4.351-second advantage over Dutch driver Max Verstappen, of Red Bull, who finished in second place.
The third step of the podium was occupied by British driver Lando Norris, of McLaren, who finished the race 5.089 seconds behind Antonelli. Norris had started from pole position but could not maintain the lead during the race.
With this victory, Antonelli reinforced his lead in the Formula 1 World Championship. The Italian Mercedes driver extended his advantage in the overall championship standings, thus consolidating his position as leader.
