The XXVIII National Parade of Portuguese Traditional Clothing will take place on September 19th at 9:00 PM, in Largo do Palácio Nacional de Queluz, in the municipality of Sintra. The event is promoted by the Federação do Folclore Português, with the support of the Municipality of Sintra and the INATEL Foundation, and expects to gather more than 140 groups and about 1,200 participants.
The parade aims to showcase the diversity of traditional clothing from various regions of the country, highlighting its historical value and the connection to the ways of life, customs and traditions of the communities they represent. The organization states that the initiative constitutes an opportunity to bring the public closer to Portuguese traditional and popular culture.
With this meeting, the Federação do Folclore Português also intends to value and honor Portuguese traditional clothing, mobilizing its affiliated groups for the dissemination of this cultural heritage. The event thus contributes to the preservation and dissemination of traditional clothing as part of Portuguese cultural heritage.
