A prank involving fart spray caused chaos at Virginia Shuman Young School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (USA), last Friday (9/11). A student sprayed the substance in different areas of the school, causing panic and leading the institution to enter maximum security mode. The incident mobilized rescue teams, firefighters, and a hazardous materials truck.
Approximately ten students needed medical attention on-site after reporting breathing difficulties and other symptoms caused by the strong smell. Three students were taken to a local hospital as a precaution, with shortness of breath as the main symptom.
Given the emergency, hazardous materials specialists were called in, conducted assessments of the environment, and confirmed there were no health risks. Authorities from the Fort Lauderdale Fire Department and Police were heard by NBC about the case.
The elementary school principal, Cyndi Felton, sent a message to parents communicating the incident and the measures adopted by the educational institution.
