A study called "Electricity Networks in Europe" revealed that smart charging of electric vehicles can generate savings of 10.6 billion euros for Europe. This saving is related to the investments needed in electricity distribution networks.
According to the study, approximately 24.7 billion euros of investment would be needed in distribution networks to accommodate the predicted growth of electric vehicles in Europe.
However, with the implementation of smart charge management systems, which allow coordinating when and at what speed vehicles charge, this investment need could be reduced to 14.1 billion euros, representing significant savings.
