The historic center of Covilhã is once again the stage, starting September 17, for the Cherovia Festival. The event is organized annually with the aim of celebrating what the organizers describe as "the most famous root in Portugal".
The festival features various activities for visitors, including tastings, food stalls, a gastronomic route and live music concerts. These initiatives aim to promote the consumption of the regional product and boost the local economy.
Over previous editions, the festival has managed to consume more than six tons of this root, demonstrating the product's popularity among participants and the importance of the event for enhancing local production.
Covilhã, known for its textile tradition and its location in Serra da Estrela, thus hosts another edition of a festival that combines gastronomy, culture and tradition, attracting both locals and visitors from other regions.
