James Rodríguez was presented to Atlético Nacional fans last Sunday, the most successful club in Colombia, marking his return to his home country after 19 years of career abroad. The Colombian midfielder, who played for São Paulo in Brazil, was received with a big celebration by the fans at home, before the 2-0 victory over Rionegro Águilas.
The player will wear the number 23 shirt, a number in reference to the stars Michael Jordan and LeBron James, legends of world basketball. Atlético Nacional announced the choice on social media with a poetic message: "There are numbers that are not just part of a jersey, they are part of history. The 23 cloaked Jordan in eternity, LeBron in empire, and today it cloaks the greatest."
The match also marked the farewell of veteran goalkeeper Ospina, the starting goalkeeper for the Colombian national team in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups. With this, James Rodríguez was officially announced as a reinforcement for Atlético Nacional for the rest of the season.
