Deputy Cezinha de Madureira is target of Federal Police in operation against corruption and money laundering

cbn14 September 2026 at 12:38

The Federal Police launched this Monday (14) the third phase of Operation Transparency to investigate crimes of influence peddling, influence trafficking, passive corruption and money laundering. One of the main targets is federal deputy Cezinha de Madureira, from PL in São Paulo. Police officers are executing four search and seizure warrants, issued by the Supreme Federal Court, in the Federal District and in São Paulo.

The operation is a follow-up of an investigation started in December 2025 to investigate possible irregularities in the allocation of parliamentary amendments. The action was authorized by minister Flávio Dino, of the STF. According to the Federal Police, members of the investigated group would have negotiated with third parties the payment of significant amounts, conditioned to the result of ongoing processes in the Judiciary Branch.

Cezinha de Madureira is an evangelical parliamentarian who maintains proximity to minister André Mendonça, also of the Supreme Federal Court. The Federal Police reported that there are no elements confirming the minister's participation in the irregularities under investigation.

Why this matters

This case directly affects citizens because it involves a federal deputy under investigation for serious corruption crimes, and the operation was authorized by the Supreme Federal Court, indicating institutional gravity. This is a follow-up of investigations about irregular use of parliamentary amendments, public resources that directly impact public coffers and services provided to the population.
