JPP launched criticism at the Calheta Municipal Council for carrying out "piecemeal works," denouncing the state of degradation of the Paul do Mar wastewater treatment plant. The party considered that this infrastructure, which represented an initial investment of approximately 5 million euros, is currently "the mirror of the lack of planning, maintenance and strategic vision on the part of successive executives" of the municipality.
According to JPP, two decades after the construction of the wastewater treatment plant, it is in an advanced state of degradation, which demonstrates, according to the party, a continued failure in municipal management.
Councilor Basílio Santos, of JPP, expressed concern about the situation, stating that "what reality shows us today is concerning," noting that much of the infrastructure is not functioning properly.
The party considered that the situation of the Paul do Mar wastewater treatment plant highlights the need for a more integrated and planned approach by the Calheta Chamber in managing the municipality's public infrastructure.
