Argentina's Defense Minister, Carlos Presti, commented on Sunday on Donald Trump's statements about the Falklands/Malvinas Islands, stating that Argentina's position "is not against anyone, but rather in favor of a peaceful solution." The American president had warned of a "potential disaster" between Britain and Argentina regarding the disputed territory.
In a radio interview, Presti avoided making definitive statements on the matter, noting that "the government is dealing with Trump in a comprehensive and coordinated manner." He said that President Milei and Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno "are certainly considering and analyzing Trump's statements."
The minister highlighted that the Defense sector has "concrete facts that demonstrate Argentina's presence in the South Atlantic" and emphasized the "strategic alliance with the United States," stating that it allows the country to "equip itself and position itself at a hemispheric level."
Finally, Presti stated that "all Argentinians know this is a national cause" and that Argentina seeks to regain sovereignty over the islands.
