The construction production index recorded year-on-year growth of 1.8% in July, according to data released by Statistics Portugal (INE). This variation represents a decrease of 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous month. The Building Construction sector grew by 1.1%, a rate 0.6 percentage points lower than that recorded in April, while Civil Engineering accelerated from 2.6% in the previous month to 2.9% in the month under analysis.
Regarding the labour market, the construction employment index slowed by 0.4 percentage points, settling at year-on-year growth of 1.7%. The monthly variation of the employment index stood at 0.2%, below the growth of 0.6% recorded in the same month of the previous year.
As for remuneration, the index accelerated by 0.2 percentage points to 8.5% year-on-year. The monthly variation in remuneration was 1.1%, slightly above the 1% recorded in the same period of the previous year.
