The heavy rain that hit the State of São Paulo over the weekend caused several damages in various regions. The Vale do Ribeira region was the main area affected by the storm, which also caused flooding in other areas of the state.
Between midnight and 6am, the Fire Department recorded seven incidents in the capital and Greater São Paulo, including four fallen trees, one collapse and two flooding incidents. There were no victims in these incidents.
In São Bernardo do Campo, a landslide hit the area next to a residence in the Ferrazópolis neighborhood during the early morning hours. The property was evacuated and isolated by the Fire Department, and Civil Defense was called to evaluate the site.
The most serious incident happened in Penha, in the East Zone of the capital, where a building under construction collapsed onto a house, causing the death of six people — three women, two men and a child — in addition to two injured. A man was arrested by police on this Sunday (13).
