The mayor of Mourão, João Fortes, announced to Diana FM radio station that the Alentejo municipality is the most advanced in the region in the video surveillance implementation process. The mayor highlighted that the city council will proceed with hiring the surveillance system.
The project forecasts the installation of 13 video surveillance cameras at various points in the municipality of Mourão. The camera installation locations will be defined in coordination with the National Republican Guard, which is accompanying the process.
The system still awaits the favorable pronouncement of the National Data Protection Commission, the entity responsible for validating this type of surveillance systems in Portuguese territory. The process is thus awaiting this final approval to move forward.
