Starting this Monday (14th), the new rules from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) to punish undisciplined passengers on domestic flights in Brazil take effect. The standard establishes standardized procedures for airline actions regarding inappropriate behavior during flights.
The punishments vary according to the severity of the infraction and include warnings, removal from the aircraft, fines, and even boarding restrictions. Sanctions are applied in cases of physical or verbal aggression, likely disturbances, and damage to air infrastructure. The fine amounts range from R$500 to R$17 thousand.
In cases considered extremely serious, the passenger will be included on a flight prohibition list called the No Fly List, which prevents the person from purchasing tickets or boarding on any domestic flight in Brazil.
The protocol established by Anac starts with verbal warnings and can evolve to the removal of the passenger from the aircraft with police assistance, following a standard procedure created for the crews.
