Traffic accidents increased in the area under the responsibility of the PSP in Leiria. This growth contrasts with the positive trend of reducing fatalities, which decreased in the same period.
However, the increase in the number of accidents brought with it a higher number of injuries. Both serious injuries and minor injuries showed higher numbers than previously recorded.
The data indicate a contradictory situation regarding road safety in the Leiria region. While deaths on the roads were reduced, the total number of accidents and of people who suffered injuries rose.
