Ílhavo launches "Zero Loneliness" program

Diário de Aveiro14 September 2026 at 10:15

Ílhavo is launching the "Solidão zero" (Zero Loneliness) program, an initiative that aims to combat loneliness and its impacts on the health and well-being of the population. The program will be presented on the 16th during a meeting dedicated to this issue.

The program includes several areas, namely teleassistance available 24 hours a day, proximity volunteering, mobility support, access to culture and revitalization of local commerce. These measures aim to create a comprehensive support network for citizens in situations of social vulnerability.

The presentation takes place at an event that brings together specialists and local officials to discuss the effects of loneliness on the physical and mental health of the population. The program emerges as a response to an issue increasingly recognized as a public health problem.

Why this matters

The residents of Ílhavo, especially elderly and isolated people, will now have access to continuous support through teleassistance and proximity volunteering. The program responds to a growing concern with the effects of loneliness on the population's health and well-being.
