Vila Nova de Cerveira is preparing a longer edition of the Christmas Market for 2026, which will run for 13 consecutive days, from December 1 to 13, in the historic center of the town, between Terreiro and Praça Alto Minho.
The Municipal Council intends, by extending the market, to boost commercial and tourism activity in the historic center during the Christmas season, also providing more participation opportunities for artisans, market traders, local traders, and associations.
The municipality has already opened the application period for entities interested in joining the Christmas Market 2026. Proposals can be submitted between September 11 and 27, through the Municipal Council's Cultural Services, by postal mail or via the email address [email protected], with confirmation of selected proposals expected on October 16.
The Mayor, Rui Teixeira, highlighted that Christmas represents an opportunity to bring more people to the streets, to the shops, and to the public spaces of the historic center. The official opening of the market is scheduled for December 1 at 7:00 PM, and on the remaining days it operates from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM or midnight, depending on the day.
