The Sophia solar project, developed by the British company Lightsource BP, had its capacity reduced by 34% after changes to the original plan. The solar farm is located in the municipalities of Penamacor, Idanha-a-Nova and Fundão.
One of the main changes to the project involves the removal of photovoltaic panels from an area identified as having potential for future irrigation. This change is part of the negative impact mitigation measures diagnosed in the initial project.
