A consulting firm was called by the Ministry of Education to resolve the problems in national exams, accumulating a total of five million euros in contracts with the Education ministry. The value represents the sum of several contracts signed between the consulting firm and the Ministry over time.
Only the use of Deloitte specifically related to the problems in the external assessment of the last school year represented an expense close to 600 thousand euros. This value refers specifically to the costs associated with resolving the failures in the assessment system.
The chaos in national exams reportedly motivated the emergency hiring of the consulting firm to try to resolve the situation. The intervention aimed to fill the gaps detected in the external evaluation process of students.
The Ministry of Education justified the high expense with the need to resolve complex problems in the exam systems. However, the total value of five million euros in contracts raises questions about the costs of outsourcing services for the public sector.
