The initiative was presented by Chega parliamentarians in the Committee on Infrastructure, Mobility and Housing of the Assembly of the Republic. The party wants the government to publicly address this issue that directly affects the middle class.
The Chega's position is based on a study by the Technical University of Vienna, which analyzed more than a thousand European cities and revealed that Portugal has one of the greatest difficulties in housing access for the middle class. This study served as the basis for the party's criticism of the government's housing policy.
