Mozambique approved a new domestic work regulation that introduces important labor guarantees for workers in this area. This regulation aims to strengthen the legal protection of this class of workers.
Among the main measures are the mandatory written contract between employer and domestic worker, as well as mandatory registration with Social Security. These measures aim to formalize the employment relationship and guarantee basic social rights.
The regulation also establishes 30 days of annual vacation for domestic workers, a right that was not previously clearly guaranteed. Additionally, enhanced protection against harassment in the workplace was implemented.
Another important measure of the new regulation is the establishment of the minimum wage for domestic workers, thus guaranteeing a minimum remuneration for this professional category in Mozambique.
