The United States are trying to reduce drug prices, according to a new modeling study. These American initiatives to lower drug costs may have unexpected consequences for European patients.
According to the study, European patients may have to wait longer for some new medicines. This happens because pharmaceutical companies may choose to delay launches in cheaper markets.
The modeling study indicates that when prices are lower in some markets, pharmaceutical companies have less incentive to quickly launch their medicines in those countries, preferring to wait or focus first on more profitable markets.
