GOL and Azul Create New Air Routes and Resume Others Interrupted in Northern Brazil

NewsAvia12 September 2026 at 10:12

The Northern Region of Brazil gained new air connections and resumed other routes between late August and early September, expanding the region's connections through airports managed by VINCI Airports and AENA Brasil.

In Roraima, Azul began in September the operation of direct flights between the airports of Boa Vista and Viracopos, in Campinas, in the state of São Paulo. The route has four weekly frequencies and connects the capital of Roraima to the airline's main hub in southeastern Brazil.

In Pará, Santarém Airport began offering a direct connection to Belo Horizonte/Confins, in Minas Gerais. The route, operated by Azul since early September, has three weekly frequencies and establishes a new connection between western Pará and the state of Minas Gerais.

Between the states of Acre and Rondônia, VINCI Airports announced the resumption of the direct air connection between Rio Branco and Porto Velho, operated by GOL on Saturdays. The route reinforces air integration between the two Amazonian capitals and expands alternatives for travel within the Northern region itself.

Why this matters

Residents of Northern Brazil gain more options for air travel, both to larger centers in the country and between the Amazonian states themselves. The new routes improve regional connectivity and facilitate access to services and destinations that were previously less accessible.

It's Time for Fiscal Governance

The article addresses Brazil's intense fiscal agenda in recent years, including the transition from the spending cap to the fiscal framework, revisions to primary surplus targets, constitutional solutions for court-ordered debts, and Congress's increased role in budget amendments. The text argues that despite this busy agenda, the debate remains focused on rules while the institutions responsible for formulating, coordinating, and executing them continue to take a back seat.
