Flamengo regained the leadership of the Brazilian Championship after defeating Corinthians 2-1 at the Maracanã, in a match marked by resilience and red-and-black dominance. Coach Filipe Luís's team controlled the first half but faced difficulties against a defense well-positioned by coach Fernando Diniz and against young Corinthians players who were brave in transitions and in building play from the back.
The first half was characterized by Flamengo's dominance, but also by lack of precision. Pedro wasted two clear goal-scoring opportunities, opting for elaborate plays instead of safer shots.
