The Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) alerted to the growing entry of persons in irregular situation in Portugal, coming mainly through trains and buses. The police acknowledges that this is a phenomenon that has been increasing significantly.
The authorities will reinforce inspection at the main transport terminals in the country, in order to try to stop this trend. The objective is to identify and control the flow of persons who enter the national territory illegally.
The PSP also admits that, in some cases, Portugal only functions as a transit point in the migratory route, with these persons intending to proceed to other European countries. This means that the country has become part of a broader migratory corridor within Europe.
