The giant portable altar of Our Lady of Pena from Vila Real went in procession for the first time since it was included in the national inventory of intangible cultural heritage. It is considered the largest portable altar in the world, at 23 meters in length and weighing three tons.
The portable altar was transported along the procession route by 110 men, who ensured the transport of this structure of impressive dimensions. The religious event brought together numerous people in the city of Vila Real to follow the tradition.
