City Hall delivers 96 apartments from Morar Carioca do Aço in Santa Cruz

extra13 September 2026 at 20:26

The City Hall of Rio de Janeiro delivered, this Sunday (13), the keys to 96 new apartments from the Morar Carioca do Aço program, located in Santa Cruz, in the West Zone of the city. With this delivery, the program reaches 496 benefited families. The project, which combines housing and urbanization works, has a total investment of R$ 300.9 million.

The apartments have about 50 square meters and include living room, two bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, balcony and service area. The units are delivered furnished, and the ground floor apartments are adapted for people with disabilities or reduced mobility. Each block has four floors, with four apartments per floor.

Sunday's delivery marks the beginning of the move for residents of blocks 4, 5 and 6 of Block C. According to the city hall, 400 families already live in the new housing of the program. This is another step in the expansion of Morar Carioca do Aço in the region.

In addition to the construction of the apartments, the project includes interventions in the infrastructure of the Aço Community, covering more than 195 thousand square meters of public area. The works include paving, drainage and implementation of urban improvements in the region.

Why this matters

The residents of blocks 4, 5 and 6 of Block C in Santa Cruz finally receive dignified housing with complete infrastructure, joining the 400 families already living in the program. The R$ 300.9 million project represents a significant investment in public housing in the West Zone, a region historically underserved by public services. The delivery is part of the Morar Carioca program, which has already benefited 496 families with adapted and furnished apartments.
