Alentejo recorded the lowest average scores among Portuguese regions in the PISA 2025 comparisons, related to Science, Environmental Science, Reading, Mathematics and computational problem solving. According to the National Report released by the Institute of Education, Quality and Assessment (EduQA), the region obtained 448 points in Science and 448 in Environmental Science.
The report compares the performance of the different regions of mainland Portugal and the Autonomous Regions in the domains assessed by the Programme for International Student Assessment. PISA 2025 assesses 15-year-old students in essential skills for academic and professional life.
The Institute of Education, Quality and Assessment is the entity responsible for coordinating and disseminating PISA results in Portugal, producing detailed analyses of Portuguese students' performance compared to international averages.
