Grape and Wine Festival comes to the center of Borba with new format in 2026

Alentrium13 September 2026 at 17:11

Borba's Grape and Wine Festival will present a new format in 2026, bringing part of the programming to the city center during the first two days of the event. The change was announced by the mayor of Borba, Pedro Esteves, in statements to Alentrium.pt. The solution being prepared provides for the inauguration and smaller-scale performances to be held in the area in front of the Town Hall, while the programming from Friday to Sunday remains at the Events Pavilion.

According to the mayor, the change seeks to respond to suggestions made by various exhibitors and bring the event closer to the population during weekdays, when visitors from Borba and nearby localities predominate. The municipality also wants to reinforce the representation of the wine sector, increasing the number of producers present and diversifying the wine offering, recovering the central identity of the event.

Registrations for exhibitors are open until September 25 and cover Alentejo wine producers, commerce and services, agricultural machinery, regional products, handicrafts, tapas, caravans and children's entertainment. Handicrafts are expected to remain at the Events Pavilion, although the layout of the spaces will undergo changes. The music program has not yet been released, being practically complete but with details still to be finalized.

Traditionally held in November, on the occasion of São Martinho, the festival combines the promotion of Alentejo wines with regional gastronomy, certified products, handicrafts and talha wine. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Borba in collaboration with the Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo, the Regional Alentejo Wine Commission and the Association of Viticulturist Technicians of Alentejo.

Why this matters

Readers in Borba and the Alentejo region will witness a change in the traditional Grape and Wine Festival, with more activities in the city center during the first days. Local wine producers can benefit from the reinforcement of the sector's representation at the event. The change follows suggestions from previous editions and aims to attract more visitors during weekdays.
