Federal Police tells Fachin it has 'full conditions' to forward Vorcaro phone content to STF ministers

oglobo13 September 2026 at 15:48

The Federal Police informed the president of the Supreme Court, Edson Fachin, that it has "full technical conditions" to forward copies of the content of former banker Daniel Vorcaro's phone to the offices of ministers who requested them. The statement was sent this Sunday, before the ruling on Minister Alexandre de Moraes scheduled for Tuesday.

Fachin had determined on Saturday a 24-hour deadline for the corporation to inform who maintains custody of the device and what is the state of the material extracted from Vorcaro's phone.

In a note, the PF clarified that Vorcaro's phone "remains entirely in the premises of the institution, within a formally documented chain of custody, with the respective intact seals and digital integrity verification mechanisms."

According to the corporation, a copy of the data extracted from the device was sent to the office of Minister André Mendonça in March, at the request of the office itself.

Why this matters

The reader is following a conflict between the STF and the PF over access to evidence from a phone that could influence the ruling on Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The decision on who controls the information and how it will be shared could directly affect the outcome of the case and the balance of power between institutions. WHY: The reader is following an institutional conflict between the STF and the PF involving phone evidence that could influence the ruling on Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The way the material will be shared could directly affect the outcome of the case and the balance of power between institutions.
