The fourth edition of Granfondo Serra D'Ossa is scheduled for October 4th, with around 1700 participants expected. The cycling event crosses five Alentejo municipalities: Alandroal, Vila Viçosa, Borba, Estremoz and Redondo. The presentation took place on September 10th at the Castle of Alandroal.
The mayor of Borba, Pedro Esteves, stated that the municipality feels an integral part of the event and considered that the union of the five municipalities constitutes an added value for the promotion of the territories. The mayor highlighted the event's "enormous scale" and its importance for boosting tourism in the municipality.
Pedro Esteves emphasized that none of the five municipalities would have, in isolation, the capacity to accommodate all the participants and visitors that the event could bring to the region, specifically referring to the lack of accommodation beds. Thus, the joint organization allows overcoming individual limitations through complementarity between municipalities.
Participants can choose from three distances: Granfondo at 143.9 kilometers, Mediofondo at 108.3 kilometers and Minifondo at 60.8 kilometers. The event maintains the structure of previous editions, but the organization introduced some changes, seeking to provide an increasingly better experience for participants.
