At the closing of the numerous political "rentrée" of the Livre Party, called "Os Setembristas", held at the Alfândega do Porto, Isabel Mendes Lopes again criticized the PSD/CDS-PP Executive for limiting the work of deputies in the budgetary process, stating there is little room to introduce amendments to the proposal the government will present to parliament.
Isabel Mendes Lopes, a figure of the Livre Party, used the event to present the party's main proposals for the State Budget, which include the creation of a national mobility pass, the reinforcement of family allowances and the expansion of the public care home network.
The accusation by Isabel Mendes Lopes against the government is linked to the alleged intention of the Executive to restrict the intervention capacity of deputies during the discussion and approval of the budgetary document, thus emptying the role of parliament in the process.
The Livre Party, through these proposals, seeks to demonstrate alternatives to the path outlined by the government, defending policies to support families, citizen mobility and the social sector, at a time when the presentation of the State Budget for the next year approaches.
