Innovative surgery in Santa Maria. Patients with pulmonary hypertension no longer have to go abroad

Santa Maria Hospital now performs an innovative surgery for patients with a severe form of pulmonary hypertension. Until now, these patients did not have access to this treatment in Portugal.

Previously, patients with this serious condition only had therapeutic options in the United Kingdom. This situation required patients and their families to travel abroad to receive the necessary treatment.

With this new surgical capability, Portuguese patients are no longer required to travel outside the country. Santa Maria Hospital thus became the only center in Portugal to perform this intervention for this specific form of pulmonary hypertension.
