In September 2022, the Mafra City Council was preparing to sign a collaboration protocol with the Regional Health Administration of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo for the establishment of the Mafra Oeste Health Unit, which will serve approximately 11,000 inhabitants, aggregating the Azueira branch of the Andreas Family Health Unit, the Personalized Health Care Unit of Enxara do Bispo, and the Community Care Unit of Mafra.

Residents of the western area of Mafra municipality will have access to a closer family health unit with greater capacity to respond, after years of waiting and aggregation of dispersed services. The postponement of the work, initially scheduled for December 2025, may have affected the planning of users and health professionals who were awaiting the transfer.
