The Chega Parliamentary Group questioned the Government about the reorganization of the Oncology Unit at the hospitals in Portalegre and Elvas, demanding clarification on the model to be adopted from October 1st. The deputies wanted to know details about the current work arrangement, the weekly average of hours on site, the volume of contracted clinical activity, the amounts invoiced and paid, as well as the same information regarding the new planned model.
The parliamentarians also requested data on the number of patients followed up, first consultations and subsequent consultations in recent years, as well as the care activities carried out in the day hospital. They also questioned whether the Ministry of Health can guarantee that the new model will increase the overall oncology response capacity and reduce the structural dependency on service providers.
The Local Health Unit of Alto Alentejo rejected any interpretation suggesting a decrease in patient care, guaranteeing that the service will be reinforced. According to the ULS, measures are being prepared for the reinforcement and development of the unit, including differentiated human resources and improvements in infrastructure.
The PS also questioned the Government about the changes in the Oncology Unit at the Portalegre hospital, demanding to know what the clinical, technical, and care rationale is that supports the decision. The PCP demanded additional clarification, arguing that the explanations presented by the ULS are not compatible with the care activity actually carried out.
