The Socialist Party pointed to Fernando Alexandre as a candidate for the worst Education minister since April 25. The criticism was made by the parliamentary leader of PS, who considered this a well-founded assessment of the minister's performance.
The official was also subject to strong censure by PS, who considered it scandalous that hundreds of students are without a place in public education. This situation was highlighted as an example of the failures in the Education portfolio.
The comparison with all Education ministers since the post-revolutionary period of 1974 demonstrates the severity of the assessment made by the main opposition party regarding the current management of the sector.
