Portuguese authorities are on alert due to a significant increase in cocaine seizures in Setúbal. The region has registered a growing presence of fast boats used for drug transport, which has worried security forces.
The National Republican Guard (GNR) issued a warning about the situation, highlighting the operational difficulties faced in combating this type of trafficking. The lack of resources was pointed out as one of the main obstacles to intensifying inspection and control actions in the coastal area.
This phenomenon arises in the context of an overall increase in cocaine trafficking through the Portuguese coast, which has become an increasingly used route by criminal organizations. The authorities recognize the need for more means to deal with this growing threat.
