A sea of people flooded the streets of Ponte de Lima yesterday to watch the Ethnographic Parade that marked the 200 years of Feiras Novas. The event had the largest participation ever, with thousands of people joining together to celebrate tradition, despite the scorching heat that was felt.
Along the route, agricultural customs and the memories of a region paraded, in a demonstration of identity and Minhoto pride. Among traditional costumes, ox carts and representations of the rural world, tradition once again took center stage in this historic celebration.
The Feiras Novas event, which completed two centuries of existence, continues to be an important landmark of Minhoto culture, bringing generations together around their ancestral roots and traditions.
