The governments of Ukraine and Russia are operating recruitment networks to convince young people from across Latin America to fight on the front lines of the war in Ukraine, which is approaching its fifth year. The recruitment networks operate in virtually every country on the continent, with special attention to South American countries.
Colombia is the largest supplier of Latin American fighters for the conflict, followed by Brazil and Peru. In Peru, the majority of fighters are fighting on the Russian side. There are also records of dead and missing persons in Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Mexico, Ecuador and Chile.
