The freguesia of Prazeres, located in Madeira, was officially created through a letter issued by Bishop D. António Teles da Silva, dated February 2, 1680. This creation resulted from prior authorization granted by an alvará from the regent prince D. Pedro, issued on December 28, 1676. The seat of the new freguesia was established at the Chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres, built in the 17th century.
