Wild boars are causing millions of euros in damages, which has led the Government to intervene with new measures. The executive intends to increase by at least 10 percent the number of animals culled, creating incentives for hunters to participate more actively in this effort to control the wild boar population.
In parallel, the Government is preparing changes to the hunting law. One of the main planned changes is the shortening of permitted distances for hunting activity in relation to villages and industrial zones, thus facilitating the practice of hunting in areas closer to populations.
This initiative comes in a context of growing concern with the damages caused by wild boars, both in agriculture and infrastructure, and reflects the executive's intention to address the problem more assertively through increased culling.
