Margarida, just one year old, made her first appearance in the ethnographic procession of the Feiras Novas in Ponte de Lima. The baby fell asleep in the small wooden pram during the route, near the statue of Dona Teresa, after resisting the movement, the music and the crowd. Her cousin who accompanied her, João, represents the parish of Correlhã at the event.
João revealed that Margarida had already been to the Feiras Novas when she was just one week old, which shows the child's early connection to this tradition. João himself commented, laughing, that the baby was doing better than him in the procession.
From Porto, João has been taking part in the procession for four years. His connection to Correlhã is through his mother, which is why, whenever he can, he returns to the Feiras Novas. The young man expressed his love for the Typical Rusga of Correlhã, stating that he comes to the event because he enjoys it.
