Marília Mendonça and Xingu, two jaguars recorded in Carajás, in Pará, are making waves at Rock in Rio through digital and holographic versions. The felines were photographed during an immersion by Vale's creative team, which included visits to BioParque Vale Amazônia and overflights over the Amazon rainforest.
The animals' presence inspired the Forest of Light, an unprecedented installation by Vale at the Rock City. The structure transforms animals, plants, and visitors from the Amazon and Atlantic Forest into two million particles, creating an immersive visual experience for the festival audience.
The names of the jaguars were chosen by popular vote in Pará. Marília Mendonça received this name in tribute to the Brazilian singer who passed away in 2021, while Xingu references the river and the indigenous region of the same name. The action is part of mining company Vale's presence as a sponsor of the event.
