Fatoumata Diallo improved her personal best in the 400 meters hurdles by lowering below 54 seconds again, but could not secure a place in the final of the competition. The Portuguese athlete finished in fifth position in her semi-final, a result that did not allow her to advance to the decisive race.
Qualification for the Ultimate Championship final was reserved for the top four finishers in each semi-final, which meant Diallo needed to finish among the top four to guarantee her presence in the final.
This was the second time the Portuguese athlete managed to go below 54 seconds in the event, demonstrating consistent progression in her performance throughout the competition. However, the fifth place in her semi-final ultimately proved insufficient to fight for a place on the final podium.
