The CEOs of the leading artificial intelligence companies publicly agreed on the need to slow down the development of the technology. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Elon Musk, head of xAI, expressed support for the call made by Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, the company responsible for the virtual assistant Claude.
Amodei made a public call asking AI companies to advance more slowly and cautiously in developing the technology, stating that risk prevention is fundamental. The executive also highlighted that artificial intelligence could eventually pose a threat to humanity.
Altman responded to the call through the X platform, stating "I agree with Dario" and informing that OpenAI would follow Anthropic's example by accepting external safety evaluators to oversee its operations. Musk also expressed agreement, stating briefly: "Dario is right."
The convergence among the three executives occurs after several concerning incidents related to artificial intelligence technology, which motivated the discussion about the need for greater caution in advancing the capabilities of AI models.
