PAN convened a meeting of the Political Commission to analyze the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the invalidity of the latest election of the party's national bodies. This meeting comes following the ruling that rejected the appeal submitted by the party against the sentence that had declared the electoral act invalid.
The Constitutional Court confirmed the decision that considered the election of PAN's national bodies invalid. This decision represents a significant blow to the party's internal structure, which now faces an institutional crisis regarding the legitimacy of its governing bodies.
Inês Sousa Real, the current party spokesperson, sees her election to leadership compromised by this decision. The PAN leader may thus lose the position she holds, directly affecting the party's representation and direction at the national level.
The party will now have to decide how to proceed in light of this judicial decision, with the Political Commission meeting intended to define the next steps and possibly schedule new internal elections to regularize the situation of its governing bodies.
