The professional taxi associations, the Lisbon City Council and ANA signed yesterday, at the CML City Hall, an agreement that will change the way taxis at Lisbon Airport operate. This agreement comes as a response to longstanding problems related to the taxi service at the main gateway to the Portuguese capital.
The taxi rank at Lisbon Airport will now operate with a fixed price system, divided by zones in the city. The fixed fare values will range between 16 and 19 euros, depending on the passenger's destination zone.
All those involved in the process consider that a decisive step was taken to "credibilize" this service. The signing entities believe that the implementation of this new regime will contribute to improving the quality and reliability of taxi services at the airport.
According to the signatories of the agreement, Lisbon's image as a city benefits from these new rules. The agreement was formalized yesterday at the City Hall of the Lisbon City Council, marking an important moment for the regulation of the transport sector in the Portuguese capital.
