Central Bank employees informed Vorcaro of the names of police officers who were investigating him, PF says

oglobo12 September 2026 at 15:41

The Federal Police discovered that Daniel Vorcaro, former banker of Banco Master, had on his seized cell phone a file in the Notes application containing the names of the police officers investigating him. The PF found that Vorcaro had conducted a counter-investigation to identify the investigators.

Two Central Bank employees were discovered for participating in a PF meeting and leaking information to Vorcaro. Belline Santana, head of the Banking Supervision Department, and his deputy Paulo Sérgio Neves de Souza passed on the content of the meeting to the former banker. Both have been removed from their positions at the BC.

The police officers identified by Vorcaro were delegates Dennis Cali, director of combating organized crime and corruption, Guilherme Alves de Siqueira, head of repression of financial crimes, Daniel de Brito and Janaina Palazzo, leaders of Operation Compliance Zero, plus another agent.

The investigation reports were made public yesterday by the Supreme Federal Court. The investigation is related to Vorcaro's attempt to save Banco Master from being liquidated in 2025.

Why this matters

The discovery exposes a leak network within the Central Bank itself, the agency responsible for overseeing the financial system, which undermines the credibility of banking supervision in Brazil. Readers following the Banco Master case, which is in the process of liquidation, now see the investigation deepen with implications for BC governance and for the very progress of the bank's liquidation. The identification of investigators' names by Vorcaro suggests he had access to sensitive information about the police operation, raising questions about the security of the investigation.
