Putin defended during a BRICS summit the need to continue promoting the improvement of the United Nations' performance, considering that the expansion of the Security Council is fundamental to achieving this goal.
The Russian president stated that the inclusion of representatives from countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America in the UN Security Council would help improve the functioning of the organization.
This position was expressed in the context of a BRICS summit, the group that brings together Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and which has been discussing issues related to global governance and the reform of international institutions.
