The Azorean parliament, the Regional Assembly of the Azores, issued an unfavorable opinion on the legislative initiatives regarding the Portuguese news agency Lus.
This position comes in a week when the Regulatory Authority for the Media (ERC) also commented on the issue, considering that the restructuring of Lus is not in compliance with current legislation.
The ERC concluded that the proposed new model for the news agency does not meet the established legal requirements, raising questions about the legality of the ongoing restructuring process.
Both negative opinions - from the Azorean parliament and from the regulatory authority - represent significant obstacles to the implementation of the proposed changes to Lus, deepening the debate about the future of the Portuguese state news agency.
